This book is considered a gem among the jewels of Arabic grammar, and Ibn Aqil's commentary on it is one of the best commentaries. He did not aim for brevity so as not to omit some important rules, nor did he intend verbosity, collecting from here and there, and presenting all the scholars' doctrines and their arguments. He did not unfairly criticize the author, nor did he blindly support him, accepting everything he presented whether it was correct or not. The author of this commentary possessed such fame and excellence in the art, and such blessings and sincerity, that it prompted Arab scholars to read his book and suffice with it over other commentaries.
